Cal State Fullerton offers
one- and two-week summer programs for kids and teens, ages 7-14.
Art Camp offers a great opportunity for kids to explore their creativity with fun and challenging projects. Older students ages 12-14 will be grouped together and will have the opportunity to broaden their artistic perception and skill level with more advanced projects.
The Math and Drawing classes are designed to prepare and tutor students, grades 2 and up for the school year ahead – topics include Geometry, Algebra and Painting and Drawing. All classes are on the CSUF campus.
Art Camp for Kids 7-14
Each two-week session is designed to help students explore the exciting world of art, drama and creativity! The instructors are working professionals in the arts with experience teaching art to children and teens. Classes (10 meetings) are held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in the Visual Arts Complex at Cal State Fullerton.
Art Camp is a fun and entertaining way for young people to:
- Be exposed to a variety of artists and cultures as they learn about art concepts and methods
- Learn to work both independently and as team members
- Experience joy in the arts and develop a personal style of thinking and expression
- Exhibit their work. The camp culminates with an exhibition of student work
Campers will rotate to four classes throughout the day where they will experiment with a variety of art forms: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture, Masks, Dramatic Activities, Three Dimensional Design and Crafts.
Student Art Exhibitions
At least one work from each student will be displayed in a Student Art Exhibit to be viewed from 3-4 p.m. during an open house the last day of each camp session.
Extended Day
Extended Day is offered to include times of supervision before camp from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and after camp from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Only a limited number of Extended Day opportunities are available. Parents are expected to pick up their children/teens promptly at 5:30 p.m.
Important Facts
Campers need to bring their own sack lunch and snacks for two snack breaks. Beverages will be provided. It is recommended that campers wear old, comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Parents of registered campers will receive in the mail, an information packet two weeks prior to the start date of camp.

Math and Drawing Classes
A variety of classes are available in one-week segments. They’re all designed to help the students be more prepared for their school year ahead.
Pre-Algebra Basics (11-13-year-olds)
A great review and preparation for junior high math, this class will include a review of elementary mathematics and principles, introduction to signed numbers, beginning rules for algebraic evaluations, and algebraic equations.

Algebra I Problem Solving (12-14-year-olds)
Upon completion of this class, students will have a basic knowledge of problem solving strategies and feel more comfortable beginning an Algebra I class. Topics include variables and algebraic equations, real numbers, integers, evaluating expressions, and solving equalities and inequalities. Using formulas to solve equations and consecutive integer problems will also be covered.

Algebra II (14-18-year-olds)
This class is designed for students who have completed algebra I or have a solid knowledge base to build upon. Topics will include a review of algebra I, advanced polynomials, rational equations and negative exponents to use with radical functions. Students will gain a base knowledge of algebra II and get a head start for the fall!

Introduction to High School Geometry (13-16-year-olds)
Geometry concepts will be introduced including geometric definitions and constructions, congruence and measurement, inductive and deductive reasoning skills. Students will learn to construct proofs using definitions, postulates and theorems focusing on triangle congruence relationships.

Drawing and Painting (8-12-year-olds)
This multi-media class will focus on drawing and painting techniques. Students will draw a variety of subjects including people, animals, still life and imaginary characters using ink, marker, soft and oil pastels. Students will learn a selection of watercolor techniques and paint in both watercolor and tempera. Emphasis will be placed on art principles and elements at the individual level.
