Online Teaching and Learning Certificate

Answering the Demand for Trained Distance Instructors

The Online Teaching and Learning Certificate Program (OTLC) is a 12-unit online professional development curriculum designed to build knowledge, skills, and leadership in distance education and training. Completion of this certificate enables educators to design and provide high quality distance education. The certificate responds to the enormous demand both locally and nationally for trained distance instructors.

The program integrates core knowledge with practical applications in serving educators in secondary schools (6-12) who are looking to develop online courses. Graduates will have the ability to serve traditional students as well as those in alternative education settings. The program may also appeal to instructors from other academic settings, including college faculty and distance educators who are working with adult learners.

The participating faculty bring years of expertise in online course delivery and the use of information, communication, and educational technologies to improve teaching and learning. Instructors will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Dr. Chris Street, Professor, Department of Secondary Education
  • Dr. Lynda Randall, Professor, Department of Secondary Education
